Court of Protection

Practice Area Specialist:

Lorraine Whitfield

Lorraine Whitfield is a Partner of the firm and heads the Private Client team.  She helps clients to plan their estates, advises on the mitigation of Inheritance Tax as well as drafting their Wills and dealing with their property. She also advises on Tax Planning, Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications and related property law.

As we live longer it is more likely that we will need help in later years if we become infirm. Where Lasting Powers of Attorney have not been made, there is effectively no provision for help administering property, affairs and making personal welfare decisions if you cannot deal with these things yourself.

In this case an application has to be made to the Court of Protection for a Deputy to be appointed to manage your affairs and we can assist the person who wishes to apply to make that application. We also help with the regular applications that may need to be made to the Court to administer you affairs.

We understand that this can be a distressing time and we aim to handle the case carefully and sensitively. We listen carefully to your concerns and provide clear straightforward advice in order to help you to understand the complexities of the situation and come to the right solution.

Call us today on 023 8072 7171 for a no obligation discussion so we can help you protect your loved ones who are no longer able to make important decisions by themselves.
