Woman awarded compensation after slipping at a health spa

A 54-year-old woman has been awarded £3,130 compensation after injuring her wrist at a health spa. She had been browsing in a walk-in fridge on the premises when she tripped on a rubber strip. She fell against a wall and injured her right wrist. It took nine months for her wrist to completely heal to a pre-accident state. She brought an action against the spa claiming it had been in breach of its statutory duty under the Occupiers Liability Act 1957.

The spa admitted liability and agreed to an out-of-court settlement of £3,130 to compensate for her pain, suffering and loss of amenity. If you have been injured as a result of someone else’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation.
